Otis the Gentle Giant comes to Dog Day Care.
We have great pleasure in introducing the much loved Otis, he is a Bernese Mountain dog who is quick to play and is always ready for lots of cuddles.
The Bernese Mountain dog originally came from Switzerland where they are known as the Berner Sennenhund, which when translated means Bernese Apline Herdsmen’s Dog.
The Bernese Mountain dog throughout history worked as draft dogs, watchdogs, and drovers in many farmlands of the canton of Berne.
Despite their huge pressence, they are a faithful and loving family dog, one that you will get a lot of pleasure from.
Otis is a particularly special dog for us, he has recentley been very poorly which was heart breaking to see. He is now having to be given medication on a daily basis which has helped bring him back to his normal playful self. For a while he was in pain which changed his personality a great deal, he was quiet and timid around the other dogs. Not wanting to join in, he'd rather hide away. We were so pleased to see the progress he has made, the old Otis has returned and the tug of war games continue!
